FIRST THINGS FIRST

Philippians 2:12-18; Ps 27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; Luke 14:25-33

"If anyone comes to me without hating his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.  Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple."

With JEsus there always seems to be a love hate relationship.  In order to love fully one must be willing to denounce and only in denounce does the object of true affection become clear and love begun to be realized.

Think on these words from Fr Arupe

"Nothing is more practical than finding God, than falling in Love in a quite absolute, final way.  With what are you are in love?  What seizes your imagination will affect everything.  It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, whom you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.  Fall in Love, stay in love, and it will decide everything."

Falliging in love means we have to love other things less in order to love them more.

As they say, "first things first."

So what is first in your life?  Is Jesus?  Or do you compromise your love away?

When you think about what you put first in your life, also think about why that is first?

Do we put God first for our sake, if so is he really first?
OR do we put God first for his sake?
